Day of Caring in Colebrook

On September 20th, Granite United Way’s Northern Region Day of Caring will take place in Colebrook, coordinated in partnership with The Community Builders Hub, with additional support from The Neil & Louise Tillotson Fund, White Mountain Rotary and A House to Home Realty. Day of Caring is an annual volunteer event that mobilizes thousands of volunteers to assist hundreds of local nonprofits, who may have limited capacity to accomplish short-term, wishlist projects.

Stemming from community feedback, three projects will be undertaken for the day:

  1. Clean up and planting of perennial flowers at the dummy intersection between A Notch Above Real Estate and the former Howard’s Restaurant. Please get in touch if you have any perennials to contribute from your home gardens!
  2. Beaver Brook Falls trail clean-up and polyurethaning of benches & picnic tables. The Colebrook Kiwanis Club is a leader on this effort, as they maintain the park, but many hands make light work! Anyone able to help remove debris from the trails (and ideally off of the property), would be a great help. Please bring a rake if you have one.
  3. Sprucing up the River Walk by removing litter, cleaning off the storywalk stands and trimming any small encroaching vegetation on the trails.

Organizers are seeking support from local volunteers to help out with the projects. Why volunteer?  It makes a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. It fosters a sense of teamwork and contributes to building a stronger, more supportive community.  There will be a morning volunteer shift from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and an afternoon shift to finish up projects from 12-3 p.m.

The day will kick off at 9 a.m. at the Municipal Parking Lot just off of Main Street in Colebrook at the Community Builders Hub tent, where coffee, water, donuts and tee-shirts will be offered to volunteers as they split up into teams to tackle projects.  A complimentary pizza lunch will be available for participants at the Colebrook Town Hall at noon, as well.

To sign up to volunteer, please fill out this form. Event contacts are Laura Boucher (Laura.boucher@graniteuw.org) and Britni Haley (britni@thecbh.org). It is recommended to wear gloves and work clothes on the Day of Caring. Day of Caring event details and updates can be found at:  https://www.facebook.com/events/1006428117796670
