On September 16th, Granite United Way’s Northern Region Day of Caring will take place in Colebrook, coordinated in partnership with The Community Builders Hub, the Colebrook Bambino League, and Colebrook Academy & Elementary School, with additional support from White Mountains Community College, White Mountain Rotary and A House to Home Realty. Day of Caring is an annual volunteer event that mobilizes thousands of volunteers to assist hundreds of local nonprofits, who may have limited capacity to accomplish short-term, wishlist projects.
This year’s focus project will be the “Cook Shack” at the Colebrook Athletic Fields, a building that has received a lot of community use by many local youth and coaches for decades. Organizers are seeking volunteers to help with painting, organizing and cleaning, to spruce up the building.
A complimentary pizza lunch will be provided starting at 12:00 PM, along with bandanas for volunteers, before splitting up to work on various tasks for the afternoon. As this is an early release day for Colebrook Academy & Elementary School, students are invited to participate. Tasks will be best suited for those in grades 6 & up, as well as adults. Paint clothes are recommended. Projects will finish by 3:30 PM.
Volunteering fosters a sense of teamwork and contributes to building a stronger, more supportive community. To sign up to volunteer by Sept. 14, please email Laura.boucher@graniteuw.org or britni@thecbh.org or sign up here.
