Halloween Window Painting Project in Colebrook

The week prior to Halloween 2023, five of Colebrook’s Main Street businesses were adorned with colorful window paintings depicting Halloween and fall scenes. This is a project that used to happen in Colebrook many years ago, which the Community Builders Hub helped to bring back this year in order to better connect the school staff and students with the local business community, and build a sense of pride in the place they call home.
After performing outreach, we found the businesses were so happy to participate in this project. The 5th grade students at Colebrook Academy and Elementary School also loved being able to create art displays for all to see. Coupled with this was a fun costume parade down Main Street that grades PreK-5 took part in on Halloween day, waving to business owners and passers-by on the way, and checking out the painted windows.
Supplies were funded by Small Acts North this year, and will be a school funded program moving forward. The Colebrook Key Club volunteers cleaned up the windows the day after Halloween, and school staff were awesome to work with, helping to coordinate necessary details and bring the vision to fruition. We were so proud to partner with these parties on this project, assisting with communication, fundraising, organizing and promotions. Spreading pure community joy, and connecting people to place is where it’s at!
