SUMMARY:Family Village series
DESCRIPTION:A series of four “Family Village” sessions will be taking place on the Tuesday afternoons of April 15\, April 22\, May 6 and May 13\, from 4:00-5:00 PM\, downstairs at the Colebrook Public Library (use rear entrance).  Colebrook area parents and caregivers who want to be part of a supportive network and are interested in working together to make positive change for children in their community are invited to join in these supportive group meetings.   \n“At the New Hampshire Statewide Family Engagement Center\, our mission is to bring together families\, schools\, and communities to enhance our children’s education and the community as a whole. One of the ways we try to accomplish this goal is with the Family Villages curriculum.” notes lead organizer\, Wendy Conway.  She explains\, “Family Villages is a framework to build mutual support networks for families\, adapted from Dana Suskind’s Parent Nation program. This group brings caregivers together to develop their personal strengths and goals\, to enhance our communities as good places to raise our children.  During these sessions\, parents will also develop some sort of goal and begin working towards it together. For example\, we had a facilitator who completed a dad’s family village and the goal they established and are still working on is to create a father’s group held by local fathers\, and this group is beginning to thrive! The possibilities are endless.” \nThe event is being hosted by the NH Statewide Family Engagement Center\, and supported by The Community Builders Hub who will be providing light refreshments.  To register\, please contact Wendy Conway at conway@compactnh.org.  Participants will receive a $20 electronic gift card for each session they attend.  More information on the NH Statewide Family Engagement Center can be found at nhsfec.org/.   \n
