SUMMARY:Winter Sliding Party
DESCRIPTION:Come one\, come all to the new Brooks-Gadwah Sliding Hill at the North Country Community Recreation Center\, located at 33 Rec Center Road in Colebrook!  The Community Builders Hub is partnering with the center to host an afternoon sliding party from 1-3 PM on Saturday\, January 31.  Look to the NCCRC Facebook page for updates on more winter sliding gatherings that are being organized by others\, as well. \nAt the sliding party\, The Community Builders Hub will have hot cocoa and snacks to share. The Colebrook Fire Department will provide a campfire to warm up next to and the North Country Chamber of Commerce will be there to share area information\, as well.  Participants should dress warm\, bring a sled and energy for trekking back up the hill.   \n“One of the classic pastimes that families have enjoyed for generations in the area\, is a good old fashioned sliding party. Come join in the fun of healthy\, family-friendly recreation!  All ages are welcome from all local towns. Even if you just want to get out to visit with neighbors\, it’s a good opportunity to do so\,” encourages Britni Haley\, Community Steward/organizer of the event.

SUMMARY:Rec Center Playground Re-Opening!
DESCRIPTION:The North Country Community Recreation Center (NCCRC) is pleased to announce a Playground Re-Opening Celebration on Thursday\, July 3rd\, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at 33 Rec Center Road in Colebrook\, NH. This free\, family-friendly event is open to all area residents and visitors. \nThe event\, hosted by the newly established NCCRC Board of Directors in partnership with The Community Builders Hub\, will mark a new chapter for the Rec Center. The Hub has played a vital role in supporting the transition to new leadership and facilitating a collaborative\, community-driven path forward. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the outdoor space. Children can explore and play on the newly-reopened playground\, which will now remain permanently open to the public. Festivities will include live music performed by local musicians\, free glowsticks and sweet treats\, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the North Country Chamber of Commerce. \nThe evening also offers an opportunity to meet the new Board Members: Brian LaPerle (Chair)\, Lori Morann\, Terrie Herr\, Jimmy Crossley\, Natalie Marquis\, Rob Dawson\, and Jacob Kennett. The Board will be gathering community feedback and welcoming donations—both monetary and in-kind—to help guide the continued redevelopment of the property. \nThe celebration takes place just before the Colebrook fireworks\, hosted by the Kiwanis Club at the nearby ball fields. (Please note: the view of the fireworks from the Rec Center may be limited.) \nThe NCCRC Board extends heartfelt gratitude to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital (UCVH) for its years of support and involvement in exploring the potential for a future wellness center. Though UCVH has officially concluded its legal affiliation with NCCRC\, the organization remains a dedicated community partner. \n“Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital is grateful for the community support and enthusiasm around the North Country Community Recreation Center\,” commented Greg Cook\, President and CEO\, UCVH.  “We look forward to the Center helping meet the health needs of Northern Coös County and Northeastern Essex County residents for years to come.” \nLooking ahead\, the new Board is focused on reopening and revitalizing the outdoor spaces\, while planning for long-term renovations of the facility. Committees are currently being formed to focus on marketing and communications\, fundraising\, property and grounds management and business planning. \n“Our vision is to create a sustainable\, year-round community recreation center that offers multi-use space for a variety of programs\, events\, and community needs\,” said Board Chair Brian LaPerle. “We welcome all individuals and businesses who want to help shape the future of this beloved community resource.” \nGet Involved \nCommunity members and potential partners interested in contributing to the NCCRC’s future are encouraged to attend the July 3rd event or contact Board Chair Brian LaPerle at brian@northerntire.com.  In case of inclement weather\, please look to the Facebook event on The Community Builders Hub page for any rescheduling notices.
